A publishing site with a substantial catalog
KetoFocus is a recipe publishing business run by my wife, Annie. The site needed a lighter theme and tools that could help maintain a catalog of 675 recipes. This is family-business work.
I rebuilt the WordPress theme around the recipe pages and their important content. The work included performance budgets, structured recipe data and checks on the templates that readers and search engines use.
Reduce the weight of a recipe page
In the recorded comparison, a representative recipe page went from 594 KB to 147 KB. Requests fell from 70 to 37. The improvement came from the implementation and asset delivery of the page, rather than a change to the recipe itself.
A publishing site also needs to account for the services around the content, including advertising. Performance checks need to distinguish the theme's work from the effects of third-party systems.
Give editorial work a reviewable path
I also built tools for research, audits and draft preparation. AI-assisted tasks use the existing recipe and editorial context, with a person reviewing changes before they reach the live site.
The workflow records the work and its usage costs. That makes it possible to inspect an output, compare it with source material and decide whether it should be used. Drafting is a separate responsibility from publishing.
Results and scope
The page-weight and request figures are recorded project comparisons. They are not a claim of a particular search recovery or revenue increase. The editorial tools demonstrate a reviewed publishing workflow; they do not establish that every AI-generated draft is correct. Commercial traffic and revenue figures are not published here.
