Keep the useful parts of an established presence
Povey & Associates is a surveying firm founded in 1927. Its existing website had useful search visibility, while the presentation and page delivery needed improvement. I built a replacement around the firm's services, sectors and project work.
The site has 25 pages, including service information, sector pages and portfolio content. A drone-video introduction and an interactive LiDAR example help explain work that is difficult to communicate with a paragraph alone.
Treat migration as part of the build
I recorded a search baseline, mapped old addresses to their replacements and checked the new pages' canonical URLs and indexing behavior. While the replacement sat in staging, an indexing guard kept it out of search so the unfinished site was never presented as the main one.
The purpose is to reduce avoidable disruption and give the launch a clear verification plan. A redirect map and a baseline are useful controls; they cannot guarantee a particular future ranking.
Prepare the assets and the inquiry path
The image collection was reduced from 33 MB to 3.3 MB. The application includes service and business information for search engines and a contact form with spam controls that sends through the firm's own mail. The build and migration checks are documented, and the site runs in a container on the firm's own server, so a merge to the main branch is a deploy.
Before launch the firm reviewed the whole site and asked for changes: a Scan-to-BIM service page, the drone fleet, the firm's history, a service-area map and a second testimonial. Those went in, then the site went live on September 14, 2026.
Results and scope
The site is live at poveysurvey.com. Every old address redirects to its replacement, including the old sitemap and a few guessed addresses that showed up in the first day's 404 log. There are no post-launch search or inquiry results yet; the four search positions recorded before launch are the baseline they will be checked against. The delivered work is the replacement website, optimized assets, the migration plan and the hosting setup.
